EVERY HUMAN LIFE IS LIVED SOMEWHERE

More people should be able to live somewhere good.

NEXA is working to make good homes more affordable.

We bring together housing development, building materials, construction and research to find better ways to build without reducing safety, comfort or quality. We are starting with real housing projects and building materials in Africa.

Better economics. Not lower standards.

Build With NEXA
51M+ Estimated housing-unit deficit across Africa

Africa needs more homes. But the problem is not only the number of homes.

THE PROBLEM

Why does building a good home cost as much as it does?

Behind that number are people and families looking for safe, decent and affordable places to live. Building more homes is necessary. NEXA intends to build.

But before someone receives the keys, many costs have already entered the final price. There is land, design, approval, materials, labour, equipment, energy, transportation, finance and professional work. There may also be waste, delay, repeated work and poor coordination.

These costs accumulate. In the end, the buyer or renter pays for them.

The customer is not only paying for a building. The customer is paying for the complete system that created it.

NEXA wants to understand that system and find where it can genuinely be improved.

OUR APPROACH

Building more in exactly the same way may not be enough.

We can search for suitable land, negotiate better prices, improve planning, procurement and project management, reduce unnecessary overhead and benefit from scale. NEXA must learn to do all these things well.

But we also want to look deeper. If we use the same materials, supply chains, processes and cost structure as everyone else, there may always be a limit to how far we can improve affordability.

01Why is a material expensive?
02Where is time being lost?
03Where is work being repeated?
04Where is material being wasted?
05Can something suitable be made closer to where it will be used?
06Can a design become easier to build and maintain?
07Is the current method still used because it is the best answer, or because it has always been used?

Sometimes the current answer will still be the right one. We do not want to change something simply so we can call it new. We want to understand what works, protect what matters and improve what can genuinely be made better.

OUR COMMERCIAL PRINCIPLE

Better economics.
Not lower standards.

A cheaper building that fails early is not progress. A material that does not perform is not innovation. A lower price is not a better result if a family must give up safety, comfort, durability or good design.

Remove unnecessary cost. Protect necessary value.

NEXA MATERIALS

Materials matter.

The cost of a building is influenced long before the first wall is complete. Materials affect cost, quality, supply, transportation, waste, installation and the speed of construction.

That is why NEXA is building a materials capability alongside its housing and development work.

Our first areas of interest include bricks, doors and windows.

The purpose is to identify important material problems and determine whether better sourcing, production, design or local capability can make a meaningful difference.

OUR PROJECTS

We are putting the idea to work.

Ideas become meaningful when they meet real land, real materials, real costs and real human needs. Every project should help us improve what comes next.

Our projects allow us to build homes, test assumptions and learn what actually works. Every project should help us improve what comes next.

HOW NEXA WORKS

One purpose. Connected capabilities.

The cost and quality of a home are not controlled by one decision. The value is not only that these capabilities exist. The real value is what they can learn from one another.

Research & DevelopmentResearch works across the whole system, turning recurring problems into questions, tests and useful knowledge.

Realty

People, land, housing demand, finance and development opportunities.

02

Construction

Construction is being developed to turn approved plans into carefully coordinated physical work.

03

Materials

Building inputs that affect cost, quality, performance and supply.

04

Operations

Learning how buildings perform after people begin using them.

05

Learning

What worked, what did not and what should improve next time.

We build. We learn. We improve. Then we build better.

BEYOND THE FRONT DOOR

A good home needs a good place around it.

Our starting problem is housing affordability. But a home cannot work well on its own. People need safe roads and paths. Homes need water, electricity and drainage. Children need access to school. Families need healthcare. People need transport, communication, shops, work and places to meet. Emergency services need safe access.

That is why we think about homes as part of communities.

The affordable home remains the starting point. The community is the place that helps the home serve the person living in it.

Depending on the size and purpose of a project, we may consider roads, walkways, water, power, drainage, waste systems, green spaces, play areas, shops, schools, clinics, hospitals, transport and emergency access.

Important: Not every project will include every service. Some services may be planned, enabled or provided with governments, communities and specialist partners.

Sustainability

The environment and the people must both be able to continue. For the physical environment, we consider land, climate, heat, water, energy, drainage, waste, trees and the life of the materials used. For people, we consider safety, health, affordability, comfort, dignity, access and belonging.

A home is not truly affordable if it is too expensive to use, repair or maintain.

HOW WE LEARN

We do not assume. We test.

Some ideas will work. Some will not. Some may require years of development before they are ready for wider use.

Our responsibility is to study problems properly, test possible answers and allow evidence to guide what moves forward.

Trust begins with making those differences clear.

01

Study

Understand the problem and what is already known.

02

Test

Try possible answers carefully and measure the result.

03

Learn

Keep what works and understand what does not.

04

Improve

Use evidence to make the next project, product or method better.

Every project should make the next one better. We will show clearly what is available, what is being built, what is being tested and what still belongs to the future.

WHERE WE BEGIN

Africa is where we intend to build, learn and prove what we can do.

The places we build are shaped by the people who use them. They are also shaped by climate, local materials, income, supply chains, regulation, culture and the way people live.

We want to learn from useful ideas, research, technologies and companies anywhere in the world. But what we build must make sense for the places where it will be used.

Africa is where NEXA begins. Housing is our first problem. Real projects and building materials are our first practical steps.

As our experience, capital, technology and technical ability grow, we aim to develop stronger communities and take on wider infrastructure problems.

We will grow from demonstrated capability, not ambition alone.

Housing is where we begin. Infrastructure is where the question leads.

BUILD WITH US

Building better will take more than one company.

Perhaps you are looking for a home. Perhaps you need building materials. Perhaps you have land or a development opportunity. Whatever brought you here, there is a place to begin.

Work With NEXA

THE QUESTION WE KEEP ASKING

Can we build it better?

We believe we can. And we are building NEXA to do the work, learn from the result and keep improving.
